| Zeppo came to us almost 3 years ago when his owners were transferred to another town and could not take any animals with them. He ended up with a "work" aquaintance who then contacted me about the possibility of using him for stud. I was less than pleased as this was an older pet line that had been discontinued because of seizure disorders due to sight problems and he was supposed to be neutered well before age 3 yrs. After my refusal to help them get papers, they said that they would just keep him as a pet as he was so sweet and beautiful. I was not too thrilled with the new home arrangements and told them if he didn't work out, to bring him to my house and I would see to it that he was re-homed. Well, I was thinking that they would be giving him a chance but I guess the thoughts of losing stud fee money was too much and low and behold, he was brought to my door step the very next day. Now I mean to tell you, I actually cried when I saw this dog. He only weighed 16 lbs when a dog with his frame should have weighed no less than about 25. The first thing I did was make a neuter appt. and took him in to get a heartworm check. Just as I feared. He was not JUST possitive but was SEVERELY POSITIVE! My vet did not give him much hope to survive the standard arsenic treatment but I told them to neuter him anyway and we would see what we could do. In the meantime, a lady by the name of Barb Newton had stopped by to buy some free range eggs and began to tell me about natural health and natural healing. To make a long story short, I cancelled the heartworm appointment and began giving him a product called "Parafree" made my a company in Utah called "YOUNGLIVING". At the same time, I was giving him a natural enzyme called "Detoxyme" from the same company as Barb explained that once the worms start dying off, he would need help breaking them down to get them out of his system. This is one of the dangers with the standard treatment. The worms die at once and it can cause them to travel into the blood stream and they could suffer a stroke or heartattach. By the first month of treatment, I took him back and he came back as "moderately" positive, the second time it was "mildly" positive. I knew that he was going to be OK. Soon after all that, poor Zeppo began exhibiting sign of a disc disease. A problem with pinched nerves in the spine. He was not able to walk and wobbled. I took him to the vet and they gave him steroids. I hate those things as it does terrible things to the immune system and so after 2 days, I stopped and began adding a supplement called "BLM" (bone, ligement, muscle) to his food. It comes in a capsule which I just take and sprinkle about a 1/4 of it on his food. The other thing I did was gave him a "RAINDROP" or RDT, every day. This is an oil message technique created by Dr. Young for Scoliosis. This all happened a couple of years ago and he has not been bothered by any of this since.
