ok, what I am about to post was from a list owner who I suspect is a very unhappy soul. They usually are when they lash out at people they know not. I am afraid that she may be ill that causes her to twist things in such a way as to only make sense to herself and possibly those who place things and other living creatures above God's beloved men and women. Yes, I know, I know, we who are compassionate do tend to prefer the company of creaturs over the evil of men and so help me, I can't see or hear of things of cruelty as I want to kill them too but...God has instilled in me a LOVE for people. I truly love people and want so much for them all to find God's true love so that they in turn can show it to all of God's creatures. We are not called to judge the worldly but be a beacon.
Now this I know will anger many of you who know me but please, save judgement as we never know what causes people to become what they are but I will omit her name just for the sake of protecting her. Anything in black has been added on my blog as I don't feel at this point that she is accepting any answers nor willing to believe them anyway.
Why do you breed your dogs?Because many people love well bred, healthy animals for pets that have responsible breeders to go back to for answers and support of which they will never find in the commercial breeding corporations. I also LOVE the whole birth process. It is the one most rewarding thing that I do that truly brings me awe and joy. WATCH A VIDEO DO NOT BRING MORE DOGS INTO THIS WORLD! Do you think they like living in a kennel with “runs Dogs are typically pack animals. They love the company of others and people tend to "humanize" them to the point that they are confused as to their place in the "pack". My dogs love being where I am and that is in my house with their own beds, TV (not round the clock because they give off radiation), heat, air, and large yards in which to exercise and play. MY DOGS LOVE BEING WITH HUMANS MORE THAN OTHER ANIMALS. PEOPLE TEND TO “HUMANIZE” THEM… TRUE ANIMAL LOVERS WOULD NOT USE THAT TERM TEND TO “HUMANIZE” THEM IF THEY TRULY WERE IN THE ANIMAL’S CORNER!!!! My .02

Do you do it for profit or do you work other jobs. HA! there IS no profit in breeding dogs properly. By the time a dog is over 2-3 yrs and is bred, you have already raised them for that 3 yrs, possibly have shown them to their championship at the tune of $4000.00 or more each, research and education seminars/classes, spent thousands on natural holistic remedies/supplements and diets, sent in samples of their DNA to the ASC DNA program for the isolation of certain genetics diseases, OFA, CERF, thyroid, etc. etc. etc. and that is not including any vet care, maintainance medications such as heartgard, kennel licsenses, grooming supplies, lots of beds, coats for the oldsters and lots and lots of toys. YEAH BUT YOU SELL PUPPIES. IF YOU HAD A DOG FOR 3 YEARS A TRUE ANIMAL LOVER WOULD BE BONDED AND NOT GET RID OF THE DOG. I THINK THIS IS A SMOKESCREEN ON YOUR PART. IF YOU TRULY LOVED YOUR DOGS YOU WOULD PROVIDE FOR THEM FOREVER. THERE IS NO GETTING RID OF A DOG 2-3 YEARS AND EXPECT THEM TO FIND A HOME AS EASILY AS A PUPPY… THEREFORE, THEY ARE UNPRODUCTIVE FOR YOU .. YOU GET RID OF THEM. I DO NOT BELIEVE YOU BREED DOGS PROPERLY AND I STAND ON MY STATEMENT!
Sounds like you have your plate full with all the people living with you to take care of and although I’m sure you get their SSI its not a great living…so you breed the dogs to supplement your income.No, there is no supplementing income with all of that and because I am so particular about where my pups go, I do not sell to other show homes UNLESS I know them, their ethics and know that they take excellent care of their pets and have a good handle on cocker genetics and pedigrees which is why I typically have one or two left over for however long it takes to find just the right home for them and once they are over 7 mths of age, I do the spay/neutering myself to ensure that they do not develop habits of an intact dog/bitch due to hormones. The sale of puppies does however help in the care of my dogs. It all goes back to them. It’s typical and usual that some people do that. Only people who do not have the welfare of the breed at heart. Right now, I am not breeding because the economy is so bad and I want to be very sure that there will be available homes before I do breed another. THE ECONOMY IS SO BAD IS WHY YOU ARE NOT BREEDING CAUSE PEOPLE DO NOT WANT TO PAY. SALE OF PUPPIES DOES HELP IN CARE OF YOUR DOGS SO YOU ARE MAKING OR IS IT SAVING YOURSELF MONEY BY BREEDING. My dear, IT IS NOT TYPICAL IN MY WORLD AND USUAL THAT SOME PEOPLE DO IT. What do you grow on your farm and who works on this 80 acre farm. We raise whitetail deer and elk. They are captive bred and in high fence. The state of Michigan are trying to eradicate them in the wild in the lower parts of the state. My husband is into trying to get the large bodies to match the heavy antlers as too many captive bred are small bodied and need the body mass to carry the larger racks. We do not employ anyone. YOU RAISE WHITETAIL DEER AND ELK FOR WHAT REASON.. CAPTIVE BRED FOR WHAT MEAT?? FOR HUNTERS TO COME AND SHOOT AND PAY YOU FOR THE PRIVILEDGE OF BAGGING AN ANIMAL IN A CONTROLLED ENVIRONMENT. OH LARGER RACKS LOOK GREAT TO HUNTERS ON THEIR WALLS… I CAN CLEARLY SEE YOUR POINT IN WANTING TO MATCH LARGE BODIES AND LARGER RACKS WITH MY SPIN ON WHY YOU ARE RAISING THEM…. I THINK YOU JUST LOST 5 POINTS HERE AGAIN….. I TRULY EXPECTED YOU TO SAY CORN OR SOYBEANS AS A RESPECTIBLE FARMER.

THERE ARE ALL QUALITIES OF VETS AND AS LONG AS MOST GET REVENUE THEY COULD CARE LESS. What kind of health tests do you give them. See above. Thyroid is checked at 2 and again at 5-7. Other blood tests may be given if a history within a line exists. If there is a history in a line why bother to breed or test??? I wouldn’t breed.
NO such thing as clear lines. Genes hide, they don't disappear. Need to know your genes. I am kind of glad that she doesn't breed. She probably has left her fortune to her pets in her will.
How many puppies have you had. You are talking over 17 yrs of breeding but let me just tell you this, when I started out, I was a "pet" breeder and bred fluffy and muffy to get buffy. REALLY DUMB THING… IRRESPONSIBLE PET OWNERSHIP! IMHO

Then, I got my first computer and the world opened up in the show fancy. At that time, they were still sweeping things under the rug (and you are not guilty of this till you met me.. but now the truth is coming out) but I was being taught to do eyes and it was exceptable to do hips on males but not females but of course, that was silly so it is done on all that are in a breeding program. Once I found a woman who finished my first champion, she became my mentor as she had been breeding healthy lines (says who?) for over 50 yrs and her mother before her. She was truthful about things that she had pop up and about other lines that she had seen. I became passionate about genetics, then natural health. My philosophy is to keep the next generation once both parents have bred clear over the span of their breeding years GEE how many ties do you breed them “during their breeding years” People who love dogs and have pets don’t use that term as loosely as you do!) (exception in my young buff girl) with different lines and to also keep tabs on certain traits that are recessive since you can't breed out, you have to breed away IF you know where your genes lie. It is breeders like me who people come back to and refer to. I spent the first 6 yrs showing other more knowledgable breeder's dogs before I began to keep for myself once the lines had proven themselves. I had a few that were not breed quality and were found pet homes once I asked the breeders if that is what they wanted me to do but make no mistake, their breeders would have taken them back and placed them themselves but, I loved them and needed to know where they were and who they were with. YOU DUMPED THEM I’m getting mixed responses on you on the internet Kimber and I’m being honest with you. Honest is good as long as judgement is made on personal experience and not hearsay. I AM TAKING YOU BY YOUR OWN WORDS AND PHRASES AND READING BETWEEN YOUR LINES AND I AM LESS THAN IMPRESED.

My group emphasizes rescue. I do not believe you fit in the spirit of my group. Perhaps you should join a breeders group where you all can talk dogs and breeding. Thankfully, our rescues and shelters very rarely see cockers and if they do, they call me. REALLY, THERE ARE MANY COCKER SPANIEL RESCUES IN EVERY PART OF THE COUNTRY THAT ARE OVERWHELMED BY COCKERS THAT ARE DYING DAILY BECAUSE OF NO HOMES. I haven't had a phone call in 2 yrs. MAYBE YOU SAID NO TOO MANY TIMES OR ARE DEEMED AN INAPPROPRIATE ADOPTER? I rescue my own at ALL times (THIS STATEMENT TELLS ME THE PEOPLE YOU SO HIGHLY SCREEN ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE AND END UP DUMPING THE DOGS WHICH YOU PROBABY USE IN YOUR BREEDING PROGRAM… and those of other breeders who are either too far away or are deceased and there are a couple of us who will rescue those belonging to them. I have also had to rescue an entire kennel when a friend's situation changed. DID YOU ADD THEM TO YOUR ‘BREEDING STOCK?”
Most went to their rightful breeders, others were spayed and placed as beloved pets but there were only 5 in all. Very rarely will you see well bred cockers in rescue. I DISAGREE TOTALLY WITH THIS. WELL BRED VS BRED.. A LIFE IS A LIFE IS A LIFE AND THEY ARE DYING EVERY DAY IN EVERY SHELTER IN THIS COUNTRY!!!!!
That is one thing that MOST of the show fancy will never allow (yes, there are those who pump out puppies from champion dogs and sell them indiscrimanently and don't care but for most, they are well to do people who LOVE and CARE for the future of their breed. I hope you realize every litter you bring into this world at least 1-2 of them IF NOT MORE will end up in a shelter and face that horrible green door because people overbred dogs. I emphasize that I take back ANYTHING that comes out of my kennel and except for some from the early years, I know exactly where each one is and have contact. If people can't screen their homes well enough to KNOW that they will honor this, then those are the ones you need to worry about. As breeders go, I think you need to look at the profit breeders before you pounce on those who can well afford to selectively breed for selective clientel. TO ME YOU ARE A PROFIT BREEDER….. Think into your conscience. The only problems I have with my concience is when I was first learning what it was to truly love this breed. I don't regret the experiences I had as it has helped me make the choices and know the things I know now but, I am saddened at the poor heath that breeding pet cockers from other pet breeders had as they had no interest in tracking pedigrees or the health of their ancesters. They were only interested in making rare colored cockers for big money as the so called "merle" movement is doing now. This is even if they ARE spayed/neutered and some of them won’t be. Contracts are made to be broken and I doubt you would spend the money on lawyers to make sure your contracts are enforced. Don't be too sure of that as I had an incident just recently but thankfully, it was a misunderstanding and it was all over the new owners changing the puppy's diet too soon before the digestive tract was mature enough to handle it AND HOW OLD ARE THESE PUPPIES WHEN YOU LET THEM GO???? and I thought that they were going to introduce her to corn but thankfully, they had done all that they said they were going to do and I did not have to reposess the puppy but you better believe that I knew what day I was going to appear on their doorstep with a police officer as I did not give a reciept until I knew they fulfilled all that I asked.DREAM ON COPS DO NOT GET INVOLVED WITH OUT A COURT ORDER OR A SUSPECTED CASE OF ANIMAL ABUSE WITH OVERWHELMING EVIDENCE TO PRODUCE A WARRANT. Of course, there is no perfect breeder but I have always tried to be honest about myself and my history with cockers. There will always be extemist in every venue and I understand that but, it is unfortuate that it causes such cruelty in how we treat each other. All for a cause that they believe is justified by harming emotionally, physically and spiritually. Do they not realize that everything begins with love and by love, all things in the world will begin to heal and all creatures can be free from cruelty..... She sees me as the enemy because there has been so much suffering due to indiscriminant breeding but, that is like me saying that all shelters are smokescreens for big business since many of them do import animals from other countries to keep money coming in but I sure don't dismiss them all as that way. The worse ones, SPCA and ARA are to be avoided at all costs as they skim money from compassionate people to build sky scrapers and other businesses that have nothing to do with rescue.
