So much happening around here, where do I start?

DNR was out to inspect fences which sparked my husband to start tagging everyone as they all have to be double tagged by July and we have a lot of deer.     The problem with that is, many of them are quite wild and one girl in particular just would not go to sleep and ran herself silly.  We couldn't even get close enough to reverse her but...I told my husband to just "let it go" and allow her to calm down and come out of it on her own as she was getting too stressed.   Must be a "man" thing to just keep trying to get her tagged and dewormed and kept approaching her which caused her to jump up and run.    Eventually she did go out but unfortunately, her body gave out even after being reversed and she died.  I was heartsick and my husband finally realized that he SHOULD have LISTENED to his WIFE!     We lost her sister last year much the same way when another breeder was here darting them but he did the same thing and ran her to death.    We now have 1 left from the big buck named "Storm" who makes the cover of many a "deer" magazines.   I just wish my husband would get a squeeze shoot that lifts them off of their feet and they are not able to thrash about but then, others say that is just as stressful.    I just like the bottle fed ones. You walk right up, give them their shots and your done!

Now, Buck-ee will be darted today as he wrapped the wire (which my husband left in the holding pen) around his horns so he will get his double tags today.  He is tame and so goes out like a light.  It's when they fight it that they become stressed.

The other thing was that one of my clients called to let me know that their puppy has been having some problems these past couple of weeks, the last thing being a cherry eye.             I told them to bring him over and I would see what I could do to get some of the inflammation down that is causing his maladies, including an ear infection.   They also brought along his food which they had purchased from a local pet store chain and it was a holistic type food of which I was very glad.  Unfortunately, after I had fed it to him the first 2 days, I began to notice a very rancid odor so I stuck my nose in the bag and thought I would fall over with an asthma attach.  It was full of mold.   I cannot tolerate molds of any kind and then it started to make sense about his problems.   I am doing some oil therapy and put him back on LA for the time being and he has improved a lot since I began the oils.

If any of you who are reading this buys your pet foods at the stores, please, PLEASE make sure you check those dates!  Chemically treated food is going to have about a 2 yr shelf life (but if this is exposed to warm temperatures, it will become even more toxic than the original chemicals) and the holistic type foods have an even shorter shelf life of a year but are even more susceptable to rancicity due to natural preservatives that do not hold up in high temperatures either so when you see pet foods go on sale, it is usually because the dates are coming up for expiration and I can't TELL you how many times I have bought my food on sale to save money only to open the bags and know that it didn't smell fresh and even my dogs would look at me when I put it in front of them but because they are dogs and are hungry, they would eat it.   I do not want to have to do that ever again. I do believe that it was because of this, that I lost my Bugs, Ch.Tri-Pod's Don't Bug Me.   I had been supplementing them a few months prior but it was after I stopped and I had one particularly "smelly" batch of food that Bugs began his downward spiral.  I am just thankful that no one else responded as severely as he did although I remember having a few ear issues that I didnt' normally have.      It is only in very severe famine times that you should ever have to make your pets eat substandard foods PERIOD!
