OH MY!

Has it been since May that I have written?   I guess because it has been such a tragic month for me.

When Frosty died in my arms, the wind went out of my sail.  when Monkey Face died 4 days later, I went into a bit of a depression.  Of course it didn't stop there.....one of the fawns that I had been feeding (was a triplet) died just a few days ago after it had been discovered that she had an umbilical infection.   I was devastated as she was extremely close and loving.  Both of her brothers also died of various causes, one of which we believe their mom to have had mastitis.   The fawn losses were high to the does that had gone to another deer breeder to be bred.   One theory is that they had brought back some kind of bacterial infection as that same deer breeder lost most of his fawns as well.

I am now up in Nova Scotia for some much needed R & R.  Most of the puppies have gone on to other homes or fostered out to potential homes.  2 had been given to a couple and their friend who both had lost their dogs from one reason or another.   One of them being Zach.  You remember Zach?  The one with the weird cat eye disease.  Well, he ended up with an auto immune disease and had to be put to sleep.    The day before I came, one of my boarders who had been one of my dogs, also had to be put down and I was the one who had to do it.   He had some tumors going on at age eleven.  His owner also struggles with cancer but he still has Phantom's son, Roddy and now a new buddy by the name of Fudge.   All seem to be doing well.

I am working on being well;0)
